Solo art exhibition
9th-13th October 2014
Experimental Art Gallery
India Habitat Centre, New Delhi

The concept and points of perception behind this mixed media art exhibition have been inspired by the evocative imagery of the words 'drop of crystal with a thousand eyes'. Visual and compositional stimuli were imbibed from natural, organic, abstract and decorative elements.

A cascade of water contains innumerable crystalline droplets. Each tiny dewdrop holds within it millions of microscopic particles. A leaf is veined by lines that merge and intersect to create fine, webbed designs. A ray of sunshine highlights a multitude of motes shimmering in the air. The earth is layered with sedimentary strata of rock, stone, river and foliage. Silken strands and golden filaments are woven together to create a natural tapestry of pattern and ornamentation.

These aspects are depicted in this collection of fine black and white ink drawings that play with contrast, definition, movement, and occasional streams of colour. Detail has been lent to the most infinitesimal spaces. An abundance of meticulously drawn lines, curves, dots and strokes come together to create larger, holistic forms.

Viewed from afar you see the seamless blending of myriad outer shapes and nearer observation reveals the intricacy of countless delicate inner rhythms. Much as we introspect to seek deeper meaning in different facets of our lives, it is this closer viewing that yields the most complete reflection of these artworks.
